COMMON ROOM – BILAL
In 2012 we built a common room called “Masjid Bilal”, with financial support from Darsi-Tohlana, in Gul Dara Bazar-Jaghato-Wardak-Afghanistan. The building is 130 m². It has two rooms, two bathrooms and a 50 m terrace.
When the common room was built, only two other stores were in the area. Today, a market square has formed around the building. News and goods can now be procured much faster in the area than before. This gives travelers the opportunity to relax in the common room and to get ready for their further journey.
The common room also hosts events (such as weddings, funerals, etc.).
The biggest benefit, however, is that a school has been formed in the common room today. The children are taught to read and write. However, as the school is not yet officially recognized, it is not supported by the state. Instead, the residents of the surrounding villages come up for the teachers’ salary themselves.
